Wax-weight basis
Base Finished Weight = Fill Weight × Candle Count
Base Wax = Base Finished Weight ÷ (1 + Fragrance Load)

Total-batch basis
Base Fragrance = Base Finished Weight × Fragrance Load

Wax Weight vs. Total Batch Weight
Wax-weight basis means fragrance oil is a percentage of wax. An 8% load means 8 parts fragrance for every 100 parts wax.
Total-batch basis means fragrance is a percentage of the finished wax-plus-fragrance mixture. Use the convention specified by your supplier or recipe.
How Much Extra Wax Should You Prepare?
Use 0% for the theoretical batch amount. A 3–5% allowance is a practical starting point for many small batches, while larger buffers may be useful when you expect more pitcher loss, test pours or topping off.
